Frequently Asked Questions.
Everything you need to know about Prompter Dock features, offline models, custom structures, and licensing options.
No. Prompter Dock bundles a local AI engine. You only need the internet for the initial download and license verification.
Absolute privacy. All prompts, chains, and refinement data are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. We have no cloud backend and no access to your data.
Every download includes a 10-day unrestricted trial of the version you chose (Lite or Gold), giving you full access to all of its features. After the 10 days, you can purchase a license key to unlock your chosen edition for lifetime use.
Custom prompt structures allow you to define structured templates or guidelines for prompt engineering. In the settings panel under Storage, you can specify a Custom Prompt Structure Path; this directory is solely used to store the structure files uploaded by you. To actually apply and use a custom structure for a prompt, you simply select or define it directly when filling out the 'New Prompt' form or the 'Edit Prompt' form within the app.
No. Prompter Dock is engineered specifically for local execution to ensure absolute offline speed and data privacy. It leverages the highly optimized, built-in local Qwen 2.5 LLM directly inside the desktop client. No external API keys or cloud services are required or queried.
On macOS, Prompter Dock requires Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4 chips) or an Intel-based Mac with at least 8GB of unified RAM for optimal model speed. On Windows, it requires a modern x64 CPU and at least 8GB of RAM. High-speed SSD storage is recommended for faster initial model load times.
No. Symmetrically matching our hardware-locked security model, each license key is strictly valid for only one machine at a time. Prompter Dock generates a unique Device ID / Machine ID for your computer, which can be found in the Settings panel under 'Account & License'. If you need to transfer your license to a new computer, you must first deactivate the license on your active device to register the key with your new machine's ID.
Prompt Packs are not pre-bundled inside the desktop application. To download them, you need to visit prompterdock.com, log in to your account with your credentials, and access the 'Prompt Packs' library page to browse and download our curated, tested prompt packages. This premium download access is exclusive to Gold tier users. Once downloaded, you can import and use them locally inside your app entirely offline.
The Lite license gives you lifetime access to the lightning-fast spotlight launcher, grid/list manager, and basic prompt storage. The Gold license unlocks advanced AI features including the local Qwen 2.5 LLM, multi-step prompt chains, the 'AI Improve' refinement engine, active tone/persona selectors, and complete access to all Premium Prompt Packs.
Yes. Prompter Dock features an elegant collections and category management system. You can organize your prompts into custom, color-coded categories to group your workflows logically and locate them in milliseconds.
Designed for maximum productivity, this setting automatically minimizes the Prompter Dock window or closes the spotlight HUD the instant you copy a prompt to your clipboard. This allows you to immediately paste it into your target application (browser, IDE, terminal) without manual window management.
The app includes a built-in software update checker under Settings > Updates. Since we do not track your usage, you can manually trigger a check for updates at any time, which will safely download the latest optimized binaries and models direct to your system.
